Great Hearts Graduates Boast SAT Scores 177 Points Above National Average

Arizona and Texas – The numbers are in, and Great Hearts Academies, a nonprofit network of tuition-free public charter schools in Texas and Arizona, is excited to announce its 2021 graduating class of seniors were awarded $58.85 million in merit-based scholarships. Ninety-three percent of the 689 graduates went on to immediately attend college.

“The accomplishments of our scholars is astonishing given the challenges they faced the last two years during a pandemic,” said Jay Heiler, CEO of Great Hearts Academies. “Our seniors chose to strive for excellence. The team of educators at Great Hearts worked tirelessly to cultivate these young minds and set them up for a successful path to the next chapter. We are proud to watch these young adults continue in their success, wherever their journeys may take them.”

Great Hearts students surpassed the national averages with an average ACT score of 27.2 and SAT average score of 1237. In total, 74% of Great Hearts students received merit-based scholarships, 56% will move forward in the STEM field, 12 students were named National Hispanic Scholars, and 9 students were National Merit Finalists.

“This is our largest graduating class of seniors and we only continue to expand the Great Hearts network in Arizona and Texas,” said Heiler. “Our students leave the academies with a robust classical education, making them ready for that next step in their academic careers.”

Great Hearts has plans to open additional locations in Buckeye, Ariz., San Antonio, and Ft. Worth, TX. in August of 2022, and will be expanding its Anthem Preparatory campus in Arizona.
