Celebrating our School Nurses on National School Nurse Day Facebook Twitter Email This Post Great Hearts Academies May 7, 2025 Each year, on the Wednesday of National Nurses Week, we take a special moment to celebrate National School Nurse Day. It’s a day dedicated to recognizing the invaluable work that our school nurses do for students, families, and school communities. At Great Hearts, we know that the work of our nurses goes far beyond bandages and ice packs. They are guardians of student health, protectors of well-being, and crucial partners in cultivating a thriving educational environment. In every Great Hearts academy, our nurses stand as a quiet but powerful presence. They help manage chronic health conditions, respond to sudden illnesses or injuries, promote preventive care, and provide vital health education to our students. These health professionals have the innate ability to combine medical knowledge with compassionate care. “Happy School Nurses Day 2025 to our Great Hearts Nurses and Health Staff,” shared Director of Nursing at Great Hearts, Denise Schooley, RN, BSN, NCSN. “I cannot thank you enough for all the hard work and dedication you have put into the 2024/2025 school year. Your students, staff, and families are blessed by your gentle hands and caring heart. I am grateful you are on our team. You truly make a difference every day!” Especially in the fast-paced environment of our academies, where every moment is an opportunity for learning and growth, our nurses provide stability, care, and reassurance. They build trust with students who visit their offices, offering not just medical attention but also kindness, encouragement, and a listening ear. In recent years, the role of school nurses has become even more vital. They have been on the front lines, ensuring that learning can continue safely and joyfully for every Great Hearts student. Their leadership, expertise, and compassion have been essential to the success of our schools.
