Great Hearts’ Scottsdale Preparatory Academy has students that are moving forward in the medical field.

The middle school Spartans were honored by the Students Supporting Brain Tumor Research organization.

“Being the largest student run nonprofit in Arizona, Students Supporting Brain Tumor Research provides unique opportunities for our young people to act as principal players in a grand scale philanthropic organization,” said  SSBTR. “They work hand in hand with managers of large companies about services for the walk-a-thon, contact media and conduct television and newspaper interviews on their own, and meet with school administrators. The students also get involved with the research side of the medical field by observing live brain surgery, touring a brain tumor research laboratory, and hearing lectures from scientists.”

The academy was recognized for its efforts to contribute to the worthy cause of brain tumor research.

Lillian Mueller, a seventh-grader at Scottsdale Prep coordinated Scottsdale Prep’s campus volunteers and also received a special volunteer award from SSBTR.
