Scottsdale Prep Coach being interviewed by News 12

Morning football practice at Scottsdale Prep was interrupted when 12 News’ reporter Trisha Hendricks and her photographer Brett Philips went running across the field to surprise Coach David Primavera as the 12 News A+ Coach of the Week.

Duane Ediger, Scottsdale Prep Athletic Director, was unable to attend the presentation but congratulated the coach for the well-deserved title.  “The Scottsdale Prep Athletic Department is extremely proud of David Primavera for being recognized with the A+ Coach Award.  We know how dedicated he is to his classroom and teams which results in the success of the students that he works with on a daily basis.”

Primavera is a husband and father of five children who has committed his time to preparing young individuals for long term success beyond their high school years as an educator and head coach of the high school football and baseball teams at Scottsdale Prep.  His success as an educator and coach reaches far beyond his preparation and ability to present knowledge and information.  He shows a genuine interest in young individuals.  He builds confidence in them through his actions and words resulting in their trust.  As an educator and coach, he leads through example as he teaches his students time management, commitment, work ethic, and how to be a team player that contributes to the successes of themselves and others.

Over the past five years, Coach Primavera has taken the varsity football team from 17 players and 0 wins in his first season to over 40 players and a state tournament team the past two years. At the same time, he has taken a struggling baseball program to steady improvement and one of the top ranked teams in 2A the past two seasons.
