Athletic Director Teray Allen-Lisdon (Coach T), who has coached Morgan since she was in the 6th grade, spoke during the ceremony. “She’s an amazing athlete. She works and managers her time very well… she was playing two sports for the last three years in the same season,” said Allen-Lisdon about her participation in both basketball and soccer during the winter seasons. “I think that takes a lot of dedication, effort, and work to do both and still be academically successful,” he shared with the audience before turning directly to Morgan. “I’ve seen the work that you put in over the years and I’ve constantly seen the drive that you have, and I think that’s going to propel you down the line in the future.”

Her hard work and perseverance didn’t end on the playing field. She described the recruitment process as “really hard, and long, and stressful.” She explained that the process began back in her sophomore year, and involved a lot of calls, emails, and rejection. “Something that just kept me going was just trusting that everything would work out the way it’s supposed to and not of stressing over little things like when a school didn’t want me.”

But in the end, she says it was all worth it. “I couldn’t be happier with the decision that I made, and I just feel like I’m going to a program with really welcoming coaches and really good kids on the team. I feel like everything happens for a reason.”

Morgan thanked her parents, Coach T, her club coaches whom she has worked with for 12 years, her friends, and teammates for all the support they have given her over the years, before picking up her pen and signing her letter of intent before a cheering crowd.

We join Scottsdale Prep in congratulating Maeve Morgan and her family for this wonderful achievement as the academy celebrates this proud moment for the athletic department and the entire school community. We look forward to hearing more from this exceptional student-athlete during her time at the University of Denver.
