Meet the Interim Headmaster at Archway Roosevelt – Geri Kirby

K-5 students at Great Hearts Roosevelt will be welcoming Geri Kirby as the Interim Headmaster when they return to school after the summer break. “This responsibility is one I embrace wholeheartedly, as it is both humbling and deeply meaningful to be entrusted with the care of your children and the stewardship of our vibrant community,” said Kirby. While she is stepping into this new role, she is not new to the school, and she is not new to leadership at Great Hearts.

“After retiring as Headmaster at Archway North Phoenix, I had the opportunity to continue my work with Great Hearts as a part-time Instructional Coach at Great Hearts Roosevelt,” she explained. “In that role, I had the pleasure of working alongside our talented teachers and engaging with our scholars, keeping me connected to the core of what we do each day, cultivating the minds and hearts of our scholars. It is the strength of this mission and the remarkable students, teachers, and families who live it out each day that continues to call me back to serve.”

“She led with steadiness, clarity, and deep fidelity to our mission,” explained Leanne Fawcett, the Executive Director of Lower Schools in Ariz. “Her experience in instructional leadership and campus administration positions her well to guide Archway Roosevelt through this next season,” said Leanne Fawcett, the Executive Director of Lower Schools in Ariz.

Kirby says it is truly an honor to step in and serve while the network thoughtfully seeks the right long-term leader for the academy. “In this interim season, my commitment is to provide stability, encouragement, and thoughtful leadership so that Great Hearts Roosevelt continues to thrive,” she said in an open letter to parents. “Having already come to know the rhythms and character of this campus, I am especially eager to deepen my connection with you, our parent community, and to partner closely in supporting your children. Together, we will continue the noble work of nurturing scholars who not only grow in academic excellence but also in virtue and wisdom.”
