Maryvale Prep Celebrates First Legacy Class of Kindergartners Now Graduating Facebook Twitter Email This Post Maryvale Prep May 22, 2025 Twelve students who first walked into kindergarten at the newly opened Maryvale Prep in 2012 are now preparing to walk across the stage as graduates of the Class of 2025. These “Legacy Students,” as they have come to be known, have experienced the full arc of a Great Hearts education, from the foundations of classical learning in their earliest years to the culmination of a rich and full curriculum in high school. Together, they have navigated Singapore Math and Spalding, explored the nine virtues, recited “Paul Revere’s Ride,” participated in Humane Letters, and ending with the ultimate capstone of their high school careers, defending their Senior Thesis, all in pursuit of Truth, Goodness, and Beauty. “I am so proud of the Maryvale Prep Class of 2025 and all of their tremendous work over the last 13 years,” shared Mac Esau, the founding Headmaster of the academy. “When we opened the academy in 2012, it was our hope and dream that this would be a place where students could learn and grow from kindergarten to 12th grade and ultimately leave prepared for college, leadership, and a life full of virtue. It is truly an honor to see the first class of students complete that journey.” Esau now serves as the Executive Director of Upper Schools at Great Hearts Arizona but still has an infinity for these students that started with him 13 years ago. “I love these kids,” he expressed when asked to comment on the academy’s hallmark year. Back in 2022, the academy graduated 100% of the senior class, a huge feat in a community where only 18% of the population has graduated high school. The academy has held that 100% graduation rate to date, making 2025 the fourth straight year of graduating every senior. Join us in congratulating these 12 Legacy Graduates and all of the graduates who have joined them through the years to make up the diverse group of scholars who proudly call themselves Maryvale Prep’s Class of 2025.
