Honoring our Great-Hearted Veterans: Latoi Sullenger

Trivium Prep November 10, 2025

On this Veteran’s Day, we are privileged to count among our faculty and staff the men and women who have worn the uniform of our nation’s armed forces. Their courage, discipline, and devotion to service embody the same virtues we cultivate in the minds and hearts of our students.

Latoi Sullenger is in her fourth year at Great Hearts and is teaching 6th grade P.E. and Health at Trivium Prep. Sullenger served in the US Air Force as an IT System technician. “During my time in service, I was stationed at Beale Air Force Base in California and deployed to United Arab Emirates and served overseas in Volkel Air Base in the Netherlands.”

Sullenger said that serving in the military taught her how to motivate and work toward a common goal as a team. “As a P.E. teacher, I value teamwork in my class, and I want them to see that effort matters more than perfection,” she explained. “I try to create a supportive environment where students can grow their confidence, find pride in their effort, and develop lifelong self-worth.”

Additionally, Sullenger currently serves Trivium Prep and Archway Trivium as the Purple Star Schools program representative. The program is an initiative aimed at assisting the children of military families, offering resources and support during the challenging periods of relocation and transition. Archway Trivium and Trivium Prep’s commitment to this cause reflects their dedication to creating a nurturing educational environment that considers the unique needs of military students and their families.

Sullenger said she is happy to be able to use her personal experience to support and relate with the military children in their community and their challenges. “My goal is to make sure all students feel welcomed as they adjust and grow in our school community,” she shared.

On behalf of the entire Great Hearts community, we extend our deepest gratitude to all who have served. Your courage in defense of our country and your continued commitment to forming young hearts and minds inspire us daily. Thank you for living out the virtues that make both a great citizen and a great educator.
