Great Hearts Partners to Strengthen Career Opportunities for Military Spouses

As a new partner of the Military Spouse Employment Partnership (MSEP), Great Hearts is proud to support military spouse professional success.  The MSEP is an initiative of the U.S. Department of Defense and connects military spouses with hundreds of partner employers who have committed to recruit, hire, promote, and retain military spouses.

While military spouses are well educated and highly qualified for a range of careers, they face unique challenges due to their spouses’ military service. They endure a 24% unemployment rate compared to their civilian counterparts and 75% percent of these spouses want or need work, yet frequent relocation is often a barrier to finding and maintaining a rewarding career.  Of course, the inability of spouses to obtain and retain fulfilling employment as they relocate with the military can compromise the quality of life of military families and the readiness of the military force.

Great Hearts Senior Vice President of Talent, Kiann Mapes, recently attended the 2022 MSEP Annual Event, ENGAGE: Empowering New Growth and Gaining Employees to officially sign our partnership with MSEP as we joined the ranks of over 600 other corporate and non-profit employers like Google, The Walt Disney Company, Discover, and Starbucks.  Collectively, MSEP partners have hired more than 254,000 military spouses.
