K-5th grade scholars enjoy a full-bodied, enriching out-of-school life. Designed to complement the curriculum, our after-school enrichment programs, athletics and summer programs allow our scholars to have fun and continue learning.
Offered at most K-5 campuses, After-School Athenaeum is a tuition-based extension of the school day, featuring dedicated homework time and high-quality enrichment opportunities. Our activities and lessons are aimed at improving students’ scholastic performance by reinforcing the lessons, virtues and curriculum of the classroom. Athenaeum runs daily from the dismissal bell (even on half-days) until 6:00p.m. in Arizona and 6:30p.m. in Texas. Flexible and affordable options are available to fit any family’s after-school needs. Our K-5 academies offer after-school athletic activities which are tuition-based. Young athletes learn more than just skills in our program: the talented and caring coaches also teach sportsmanship, respect, teamwork and leadership. Our student athletes will drill, practice and scrimmage, all the while learning the skills they need to successfully transition into our middle and high school athletics programs. Best of all—they will have fun with their fellow athletes!
At Great Hearts, our teachers don’t just teach in the classroom, they contribute to a vibrant after-school life by leading co-curricular activities. Each academy offers teacher-led programs, which vary from campus to campus. Fencing, knitting, sculpting, running, drama, board games, jewelry-making, yoga, choir, the science of flying contraptions – if your child has an interest, we probably have a program that covers it. Many K-5 schools also offer “special guest” activities, inviting outside vendors to campus for programs including chess, Lego, and STEM-focused courses.
