Great Hearts Harveston Welcomes Distinguished Guests

A delegation of staffers from the U.S. House Committee on Education and the Workforce recently visited the Great Hearts Harveston campus in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to learn more about our classical, public charter school model. They were joined by members of the Louisiana Department of Education, the Louisiana State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education, and Dr. Noemi Donoso, CEO of New Schools for Baton Rouge.

The visit was an opportunity for our guests to learn more about how school choice benefits the East Baton Rouge community. Great Hearts leadership expressed their gratitude to the U.S. Department of Education for support through the Charter School Programs (CSP) grant, and thanked Louisiana Department of Educationfor their partnership and oversight, while sharing more about the expansion to Lake Charles. Dr. Donoso shared information on how charter funding works, and how New Schools for Baton Rouge can help fund charters, like Great Hearts Harveston, in Louisiana.

“It was a pleasure to show them around campus and talk about our successes, remaining challenges, and future plans,” shared Brandon Crowe, Chief Academies Officer. “The group was grateful to observe the on-the-ground realities and blessings their labors produce as they work to improve education at the state and federal level. We are exceedingly grateful for their care and interest in supporting Great Hearts partnership with families.”

It was an honor to welcome our partners to Great Hearts Harveston and share more about bringing a classical education to the families of Baton Rouge and Lake Charles. Learn  more about Great Hearts Louisiana at https://louisiana.greatheartsamerica.org.
