Great Hearts Harveston Makes a Splash at the East Baton Rouge Back to School Bash Facebook Twitter Email This Post Great Hearts Academies August 11, 2022 The East Baton Rouge Parish School System (EBR) held their Back to School Bash where the Great Hearts Harveston team was on site to share information about the new Great Hearts Academy that will open in August of 2023. The EBR Back to School Bash is an annual event where parents can meet with school leaders to learn about school choice options in the Baton Rouge area. This is a popular outing for families getting ready for the school year with plenty of food, free school supplies, prizes, and giveaways. Great Hearts Harveston hosted an information table at the event where Head of School, Sam Heisman, was on hand to meet with families and introduce them to his new school. He was joined by Director of Operations, Lakisha Johnson, and Director of Community Engagement, Alicia Carelus. “We are thrilled to be a part of the East Baton Rouge School District, serving our new community, and partnering with the educators who have been pouring themselves into the youth of this city for decades,” Heisman said. “The EBR Back to School Bash is one such example of this community of educators’ willingness to set students up for success. From haircuts to school supplies, the youth of Baton Rouge were given ample support to achieve and engage in the coming year. Though we won’t be a physical school in this upcoming year, we’re honored to be a part of the community which gives so generously to its young leaders.” Great Hearts Harveston will open in August of 2023 with 695 students in a newly built campus located in the master-planned community, The Preserve at Harveston, near Bluebonnet & Nicholson at 11801 Bluebonnet Blvd. They will serve grades K-7 in the opening year and plan to add a grade every year after until they are a full K-12 academy.
