Great Hearts Athletics Exos Combine Facebook Twitter Email This Post Great Hearts Academies April 10, 2024 80 Great Hearts Arizona athletes, grades 8th – 12th, were recently given the opportunity to do a combine at Exos, a world-renown athletics performance and training location in Phoenix. “Exos is one of the premier training facilities in the world, so this was a great opportunity for our Great Hearts student-athletes to showcase their skills and get an idea of where they excel and the skills they can improve on,” said Blake Schilly, Great Hearts Middle School League Commissioner. “It was also a unique opportunity for our Arizona academies to come together in one place and support each other in their athletic endeavors.” “When they arrived, they saw some current NFL players working out and going through their off-season preparation,” said Jon Rickey, Arizona Network Director of Athletics. “Exos trained six of the top ten NFL draft picks last year, and trained Xavier Worthy, a wide receiver from University of Texas, who just broke the 40-yard dash record at 4.21 seconds!” Great Hearts athletes participated in: Warm-up Laser timed 40-yard dash Broad jump 5 – 10 – 5 drill 3-cone agility drill Vertical jump Bench Press These are the same tests that NFL hopefuls perform at the NFL Combine and for their Pro-Days on their respective campuses. In the 40-yard dash times, our top four were Troy Barlow from Scottsdale Prep at 4.57, Tico Lentz from Veritas Prep at 4.63, Branjor Byaruhanga from Cicero Prep at 4.66, and Kaden Bridges from Glendale Prep coming in at 4.69. “It was also a unique opportunity for our Arizona academies to come together in one place and support each other in their athletic endeavors,” said Schilly.
