Great Hearts Announces Lake Charles Campus Location

Great Hearts Lake Charles is excited to share an important milestone as we prepare to open in August 2027. The future home of the academy will be on the campus of St. Luke-Simpson United Methodist Church, located at 1500 Country Club Road in Lake Charles, Louisiana.

Great Hearts Lake Charles will be the second Great Hearts academy to open in Louisiana. Great Hearts Harveston opened its doors to Baton Rouge back in the fall of 2023, bringing the pursuit of Truth, Goodness, and Beauty to the Pelican State for the very first time. Great Hearts looks forward to extending its mission, now to the families of Southwest Louisiana.

This new academy will serve grades K-3 in its founding year, and will lease the church’s educational building, classrooms, and other campus spaces as they continue to pave the way to bring a tuition-free, classical education to the community. This beautiful campus offers many features well suited for our school as we grow into a K-8 academy, including spacious classrooms, common areas, a gym, and generous outdoor space.

Over the next year, Great Hearts Lake Charles will begin customizing the campus for future students, including the installation of a playground. The new academy looks forward to transforming these spaces into a place where students are invited to wonder, think carefully, speak clearly, and grow in virtue.

You are invited to join the academy on Saturday, July 18, for a community BBQ at the campus. This special event is your first opportunity to see the new space, meet Great Hearts leadership, enjoy free BBQ and kids’ activities, and learn more about the elementary school curriculum that will soon be available to families in Lake Charles. Lunch will be served at 11:00 a.m. RSVP for the event HERE. We encourage you to invite your friends, family, and anyone who may be interested in a classical education to the event.

Note: Great Hearts Lake Charles may not receive student applications until our final charter approval by the Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education. We anticipate receiving approval in August, and open enrollment will begin in October.
