FORT WORTH, TX. — September 9, 2019 — Great Hearts Academies has announced plans to launch its first campus in Fort Worth in August 2020. This will be the charter school network’s seventh campus in Texas and will bear the name Great Hearts Lakeside.  The academy will be located near the intersection of Granbury Road and Chisholm Trail Parkway, and Great Hearts plans to break ground on the new site later this year.

Great Hearts Academies are tuition-free K-12 public charter schools that offer a rigorous classical liberal arts curriculum including advanced math and science, robust arts and foreign language classes, and a wide range of extra-curricular activities and athletics. The core purpose of Great Hearts is to cultivate the hearts and minds of students through the pursuit of Truth, Goodness, and Beauty.

The new campus will initially serve over 600 students in grades K-5 and will expand a grade level each year until it becomes a fully enrolled K-12 campus. Phase I construction will begin later this year and Phase II will begin in subsequent years. At full capacity, Great Hearts Lakeside will accommodate 1,400 students. In addition to the Fort Worth Lakeside campus, the organization has plans to open two more academies in Tarrant County over the next few years.

Network-wide, there are over 19,000 students enrolled in 30 academies across Texas and Arizona, and the waitlist continues to grow.  At the end of the previous enrollment period, the Great Hearts network reported there were approximately 17,000 children on the waitlist, proving there is parent demand for classical education in primary and secondary schools.

“We proudly prepare students for success at the best colleges and universities in the nation, but see our larger purpose as graduating great hearted young men and women prepared to lead lives of purpose, both intellectually and morally.” stated Aaron Kindel, President of Great Hearts Texas. “We are excited to offer a classical public charter school option to the families of Tarrant County, and are encouraged by the warm welcome we’ve received from the parent community.”

Applications go live on November 13 for Great Hearts Lakeside, and all Great Hearts academies in Texas.  Visit www.greatheartsamerica.org/enroll today for more information.
