Doug Lemov, Author of Teach Like a Champion, Set to Speak at the 2026 National Symposium for Classical Education Facebook Twitter Email This Post Great Hearts Institute June 10, 2025 We’re gearing up for another landmark gathering at the 2026 National Symposium for Classical Education, and it’s already shaping up to be a meaningful event. As the Great Hearts Institute prepares to welcome educators, scholars, and leaders from across the country, we’re excited to offer a sneak peek at one of the keynote speakers, Doug Lemov, a well-known voice whose work continues to transform classrooms and inspire a generation of teachers. We’re honored to welcome Lemov, a celebrated educator and author of the widely influential Teach Like a Champion, now in its revised 3.0 edition. He is a name that is very familiar to educators around the world, but especially classical teachers in the Great Hearts network, who use his methods in their classrooms daily. Lemov’s work centers on studying master teachers and offering practical tools that help educators thrive. His other titles, including Practice Perfect and Reading Reconsidered, emphasize the power of intentional practice and deep reading in forming confident, capable students. Lemov’s insights are rooted in respect for teachers and a belief in their capacity to solve complex challenges with creativity and care. In addition to his keynote address, Lemov will also lead a workshop. The theme for the 8th Annual Symposium, “Classical Education and the American Experiment: The Declaration of Independence at 250,” invites us to reflect on the legacy and future of our nation’s founding principles. In a letter shortly before his death in 1826, Thomas Jefferson wrote that the Declaration’s purpose was “not to find out new principles… but to place before mankind the common sense of the subject… It was intended to be an expression of the American mind.” In that same spirit, the 2026 Symposium will explore how classical learning, across the curriculum – from science and math to the fine arts, languages, history, philosophy, and literature – shapes the American experiment in republican government and prepares citizens and leaders for the future. With the heightened interest in this speaker alone, seats are sure to be limited. Make plans now to join us at the 2026 National Symposium for Classical Education on February 25–27, 2026 at the Mission Palms Hotel in Tempe, Arizona. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn, connect, and be inspired. Register today and take advantage of early bird rates at https://classicaleducationsymposium.org/en/registration-form. Lemov brings timeless principles and real-world strategies that will enrich this year’s symposium and deepen our shared understanding of classical education.
