Arete Hosts First-Ever Faculty-Staff Choir Concert

Archway Arete & Arete Preparatory Academy May 12, 2017

Archway Arete and Arete Preparatory Academy teachers and staff joined forces to perform Great Hearts first-ever Faculty Choir in front of nearly 120 scholars and their families.

The idea for the faculty-staff choir came from a desire to offer music enrichment to the employees at the schools. This event was not only an outlet to present fruits of their work but also the opportunity to connect with families, the community, and the students on a different level.

At the end of the program, the sophomore class joined the Faculty Choir to sing one number.

Here is what some of our participants said afterwards:

Mr. Gillingham | Archway Arete’s Headmaster: This was one of the highlights of the year for me.

Jess Harris | American History Teacher | Medieval History Teacher: This reminded me what a terrific experience it is to sing in a choir. New friendships emerge, and existing friendships are strengthened. It is a wonderful thing to make beautiful music together.

Jaime Kronwald | Spanish Teacher: Participating in the faculty choir was a very rewarding experience. I was amazed at how much we improved, which reinforced what we desire for our students–that they are well-rounded, life-long learners. It was definitely a highlight of the year!!

Stephanie Kaye | Music Teacher | Dean of Students: This choir has been a highlight of my year as well. I fell asleep dreaming of what we could sing next year.

Melody Pati | Registrar: It was a joy and a lot of fun to sing under your guidance. You have an amazing gift and Arete is so fortunate to have you as our music teacher. I learned so much!

Dr. Allan Friesen | Chemistry Teacher: I really never thought I had any hope to sing properly -it goes back to my youth! Finding out that there is some benefit to practice and technique in this area has been such an eye-opener for me,

Rebekah Kienenberger | Lead Science Teacher | Grant Writer: Participating in the faculty choir was one of the highlights of my year. It gave me an opportunity to be creative, take a break from my hectic day to enjoy music, and work alongside my colleagues to produce something beautiful. I learned so much throughout the year and got the chance to be a student again. I can’t wait to see what we will do next year.

Mr.Lerner | Latin Teacher: Having never participated in a choir or music program growing up, I could not pass up on the chance to learn how to sing. Although I still have much to learn, the guidance from Jana Minov and Stephanie Kaye, as well as the comradely with my colleagues, made for an unforgettable experience.
