Out of the more than 1,200 students competing from across the state in the 2017 Arizona Science and Engineering Fair (AZSEF), two students from Anthem Prep and Archway Anthem took home awards.

Archway Anthem 5th grader, Stone Hendrickson, took third place in the Elementary Division for his “Archery Shoot” in the Physics and Astronomy category.

Anthem Prep Junior, Nicole Sherwood, won a special award from Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen) for Excellence in Biomedical Research in the Senior Division for her “identification of small molecule inhibitors for pancreatic cancer therapy” in the Cellular and Molecular Biology category.

Nicole has been invited on a personal tour of the TGen facility, an Arizona company focused on developing earlier diagnostics and smarter treatments.
