Anthem Prep Seniors Sign to Play Collegiate Sports Facebook Twitter Email This Post Great Hearts Anthem May 21, 2026 Two exceptional seniors at Great Hearts Anthem were acknowledged as they signed their letters of intent to play college sports during a special signing ceremony at the academy. Only about 6% of high school student athletes earn the opportunity to compete athletically at a collegiate level, making this a significant milestone for these Anthem athletes. Athletic Director Rich Galewski opened the ceremony attended by friends, teammates, faculty, coaches, and family. “This is a big deal. It’s a big deal not just because of the letters being signed today, but because of everything those letters represent. They represent perseverance through setbacks, commitment when things go hard, and the belief from these athletes, from their families, and from the coaches and teachers who guided them along the way.” Lucy Marshal signed to play women’s soccer at Paradise Valley Community College. Her high school soccer coach, Rick Hall, shared that Marshal was a three-time MVP, two-year captain, and First Team All-Conference and Regional Conference top 10 player in assists and goals for the past three years. Madison Hatfield will attend Ottawa University to play women’s basketball. She will major in nursing at the university. After comments from the coaches, Galewski instructed the athletes to pick up their pens and sign their commitment letters. “Welcome to being a college athlete,” he happily declared. “You earned this moment. The road to get here wasn’t easy and it wasn’t traveled alone. You showed discipline when no one was watching. You balanced sport, school, and life. And you chose to keep going even when quitting would have been easier,” said Galewski. “And finally, never forget where you come from. Stay grateful, stay grounded, and remember all the people who stood beside you to make today possible.” Join us in extending congratulations to these amazing student athletes. We look forward to hearing about their continued success in the coming years. Do you have a story or know of one that you would like to see featured at Great Hearts?
