Why the four locations? Last year, Great Hearts America board member, Dan Costello, made the Suns arena available to us free of charge. This year, the arena is not available due to a scheduling conflict. Your colleagues have looked far and wide to find an affordable option that can accommodate over 1k people gathering both together and in smaller groups for seminar. Unfortunately, even the cheapest options were prohibitive.Therefore, we are moving forward with a creative solution that has some benefits. Instead of gathering in one place, we will be gathering as regions at four campuses: Maryvale, Veritas, Scottsdale, and Chandler. This should allow for shorter travel times, the ability to use classrooms for seminars, and zero cost on space allowing for a lunch for everyone. While we would like to gather in one place – and will be looking to find a grant to do so in the future – this option seemed most prudent given the circumstances. We hope you will help us make the very best of it.Regarding attendance and attire, I know there have been some questions and some confusion in the past regarding both. The Summit is not a less important day than any other. It is a day set aside for everyone in the organization to gather together around the same focus: to reaffirm our commitment to the mission, to reflect on how to best pursue that mission together, and to have an opportunity to look ahead. Everyone is expected to participate. If for some reason you can’t make it, just make sure to let your headmaster or manager know.
In the past we have required business attire at the Summit. This year, you are welcome to come in business casual attire or your academy’s spirit wear. Let’s avoid jeans and shorts.
